New Session!

So we've been here for almost a month now and the new session has started in full swing. Before the session started though, Stephen and I went to Boston for a day to see some old friends and so he could see the city. Now there are over 70 musicians here which is many more than last session (they had to buy more beds and squeeze them into cabins to make room for everyone). The music I'm playing this session is much more difficult than last session and my groups are amazing. Today is the third day of rehearsals and all my groups are going well. Last night we had a scavenger hunt and then we all hung out in the kitchen helping Stephen make cookies.

Update!

So we've been here for two weeks now and its been great! I've been rehearsing every day and making sure all the campers I'm responsible for (a handful of 13-yr-old boys) are in bed on time. The cabin is coming along nicely, although the massive amounts of rain has slowed down the process a bit. As of now all the walls are up as well as the porch.

The faculty concert was this last Tuesday, and it was very exciting. They played several Bach cantatas with the faculty singer as well as two more modern pieces that I really liked. It rained for the past few days, and all through the concert- which added to the mood of the two modern pieces which were more dark and moody than the Bach.

Yesterday was our day off, which was spent doing laundry and hanging out in downtown Keene.

more cabin building...

Update!

So we've been gone about a week now and today was the first day of the session here at Apple Hill. I helped check everyone in and I have four 13-yr-olds in my cabin. Stephen baked a cake for the two faculty members who had birthdays this week and it was great. The last week has been a blast and I'm excited to get started with rehearsals which start tomorrow morning.. so heres some pictures from the cabin building we did the last few days:

beauty of it all

So I am sitting here reading a book looking out into New Hampshire and I can't believe how amazing it all is. The breeze is cool, the skies are cloudy, the air is lingering with a distant sound a musician practicing and I couldn't imagine being anywhere else right now. I just baked a huge batch of brownies for tonight's concert and life is good.

Apple Hill Pictures....

these are some pictures on the campus here...

and then we were in New Hampshire!

HELLO NEW HAMPSHIRE!!

So we made it! sadly I have no pictures to post because I left the memory stick at home. EPIC FAIL on my part. However, we will be going into Keene tomorrow and I will buy one there. Keene btw is the city that is down the hill from Apple Hill. BUT YEAH. The drive was very interesting. It was long and exhausting but so new and exciting at the same time. We drove through some much in such a short amount of time. There was no sun when we drove through Texas and New York. Texas was not as important because there is nothing there! We are going to be able to see New York in the daytime on the way back so that should be cool. This is my first time being on the east coast and it is nothing like LA! I thought that LA had everything but it really doesn't! When were driving through upstate New York and Vermont, I was just amazed by how beautiful and amazing it all was. The architechture was sooooooooo awesome!!! Now we are here and it has already been an awesome experience. The Apple Hill community has been so welcoming and excited to meet me. I love it here and cannot wait to get down to BUSINESS!

more from the road....

so heres some more pics from the road...

We made it!!!!

So we finally made it to New Hampshire after 4 days on the road. We drove for three days and spent one in Ohio visiting my grandparents, which was a lot of fun! Being back is sooo great and its nice to have Stephen here. Its really been an adventure, the long drive, the sleepless nights, the near miss head on collisions (we're fine, there was a car driving the wrong way on the PA turnpike). We took I-40 across the southern states, going through Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and Oklahoma before turning north to go through Missouri and Illinois. Then we cut across Indiana to Ohio where we spent some time with the grandparents before making the last haul up through Ohio to Pennsylvania, then across to New York, through Vermont and finally New Hampshire! So heres some pictures from the road:
